Da Vinci's artwork during his lifetime was hardly respected whatsoever. He was hired to paint various things, and his work was expected. Most of the time, Da Vinci was nothing more than an apprentice, and thought of as "lower" by his peers. This didn't bother Leonardo, however, he continued to paint, and later finished one of his most incredible projects, The Mona Lisa. What compels people today is the amazing lifelike resemblances Da Vinci's paintings hold. Da Vinci's proportionality and realism are remarkable. It is intriguing that he was so unappreciated in his time. In the idea of detail, one question to ponder:
